Gay Owned. A dazzling new way to enjoy Vermont, A Stone Wall Inn was designed by an award-winning architect to combine the coziness of traditional inns with the dynamics of the new century. The inn is also Vermont's most Green Inn, is solar heated, and uses local and recycled materials. The many special touches in décor and service will make your stay memorable.
We welcome gay and lesbian couples who wish to wed, and are happy to guide you through the law and simple procedures for this opportunity. We can help you design the ceremony you will always remember.
Two beautiful swimming spots, both about the same distance from the Inn, provide opportunities to meet other gay people while enjoying the pure waters and fresh air of Vermont. Rock River, just south of Newfane on Route 30 has over a half mile of beeches "reserved" for gays and is always crowded on weekends. There are numerous swimming holes and rapids for playing. Nature trails wind through the woods uphill all along the river. Many people bring picnics and spend the entire day there. The Gorge in Rutland, just behind the airport, is another "hot" spot for swimming and social encounters. The river is quite close to the road, so the area tends to be cruisy into the early evening.
This is a place to get away from the fast lane, to enjoy the pristine nature of Vermont, with its many facets and diverse experiences. The Inn is gay owned and managed. Uniquely, A Stone Wall Inn is a new century escape, where the design of the buildings and landscapes is sensitive to the needs of its guests and to its environment.
