Growing up as a sexual minority, most of us learned to deal with homophobia and discrimination through various means. Some enhance our well-being, such as joining an organization or reading self-help books. Others ways can be disruptive to our relationships, friendships, and work. Many of these ways can develop into harmful patterns.

Author and therapist Jeffrey Chernin, Ph.D. offers individual and couples counseling to the LGBT community. His internship was at a LGBT community center, his books are about helping LGBT individuals, and he has a strong interest in helping gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender clients live richer, fuller lives. 

Finding the right therapist is often challenging. That is why he encourages you to meet with a few therapists to find one who you feel most comfortable with and who you feel is best suited for your needs.
