Milagro was founded by Mexico City brothers Arturo & Andrés Anhalt celebrating the golden era cantinas that offered friendly service, mouth watering Mexican food & refreshing beverages.
Milagro means miracle and refers to metal charms that depict arms, legs, hearts other subjects, which are hung with red ribbons at churches or carried for good luck. Milagro was designed to reflect the atmosphere and spirit of a true cantina, offering quality classic Mexican food and drinks at reasonable prices, professional, friendly service in a warm & relaxed atmosphere; a place where guests experience the inherent charm of classic cantinas.
The atmosphere in a typical cantina is lively but the establishment's design and look is normally plain. Although Milagro incorporates dark toned wood and furniture, mirrors, elegant bars & walls painted in the traditional two-toned fashion, Milagro is also strikingly different to its more traditionalist counterparts; our Toronto Cantinas are colorful, warm & funky incorporating all sorts of iconic, even kitsch, Mexican elements & visual imagery like the game of lotería, luchadores & classic 1950’s movie posters.
Milagro is operated by Arturo Anhalt Chef & Director, Andrés Márquez, Director of Operations and Barjinder Bains, Director of Kitchen Operations. Guests are treated as friends. When visiting any of our three restaurants, you will experience the polite, warm & friendly service, as well as the excellent food characteristic of Mexican cantinas.
