My practice consists of individual, couple and sex therapy. I am author of eight books on gay life and gay affirmative psychotherapy. I was the psychologist who made the presentation before the American Psychiatric Association that led to the deletion of homosexuality as a mental disorder. Founding editor of the Journal of Homosexuality, and two counseling centers for gay people in New York City. I am a Fellow of Div 44 of the American Psychological Association, received a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association in 2009, and the Gold Medal for Life Achievement in the Practice of Psychology from the American Psychological Foundation, and the Distinguished Book Award from Division 44 of APA, both in 2011.  In 2012 I was inducted into the LGBT Hall of Fame.
