Common Language Bookstore has been serving the Feminist/LGBT Community since 1991. We have 7500 titles and a staff dedicated to the community we serve.
We believe in our local community, as well as the symbiotic community of LGBT readers, authors, bookstores, and publishers. Regular author events are a part of that commitment. Trips to serve Rainbow Families Family week are a part of our commitment to LGBT families, and especially children. Common Language puts the "T" in LGBT with an exceptional Transgender section.
Common Language is located in Braun Court, a collection of turn-of-the-century homes which houses an LGBT bar and cafe (the \aut\ BAR), our LGBT Community Center (The Jim Toy Community Center), a lesbian owned Real Estate Company (Trillium Real Estate), A Performance space currently housing the Blackbird Theater, and Common Language Bookstore. It is gueer haven, dubbed "The Homoplex" by the inimitable Michelle Tea.
