In this ongoing interactive support group we will examine the unique challenges for same sex couples raising a child as well as receiving support from other parents that face similar challenges.

Connecting with Your Child with the Brain in Mind - LGBT Parenting Group

The twin purposes of this ongoing group will be to lay the foundation for understanding and collaborating with your child’s developing brain through each stage from birth through the teen years, and to have the opportunity to share your parenting experiences—delights and struggles—with a group of like-minded LGBT parents.

Along with whatever rich experiences and questions each of you brings to the group, we will spend time with these topics:

• Understanding your child’s developing brain.
• Forming and maintaining secure attachment with your child
• Helping you and your child to cope with discrimination, prejudice and rejection
• Providing your child a safe, predictable, and consistent psychological environment
• Taking care of YOU—a key ingredient for successful parenting
• Incorporating mindfulness practices into your parenting arsenal
• Receiving ongoing support from parents who face the same challenges – all in a safe, kind, and compassionate group setting
