PFLAG of Cape Cod Brewster

PFLAG of Cape Cod Brewster

In 1989, a group of concerned Cape Cod parents started a PFLAG chapter under the auspices of First Parish UU Church in Brewster, the first Unitarian-Universalist church in the country to officially welcome gays. Our chapter was chartered by PFLAG National in 1995 and we achieved tax-exempt status.

Today we are an active member of the community, with about 70 dues-paying members and over a hundred on our mailing list. We educate ourselves and our community through monthly programs led by members and guest speakers, provide informational brochures, a lending library of books and tapes, a speaker’s bureau, assistance to educators and classes, a booth at fairs, media appearances, and our newsletter.

We celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity, and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively.
