The Merry-Go-Round Museum

The Merry-Go-Round Museum

Located in beautiful downtown Sandusky, is the Merry-Go-Round Museum devoted to the passing past-time of entertainment that was common in almost every community in years gone by. Enjoy a fun and relaxed atmosphere while touring the Merry-Go-Round Museum, where you'll learn about the history and art of the carousel. Hear an authentic "oom pa pa" band organ playing that you won't believe isn't amplified. Plus, you'll see a wide assortment of the "painted ponies" on display.

The Merry-Go-Round Museum offers guided tours of their current exhibitions, plus, each season they give their exhibits a new theme that makes it fun to return. Find out the difference between English carousel's and American and the little tricks used by the makers of these beautiful creations to cut down on expenses without sacrificing on image.

“Wild!” is the Merry-Go-Round Museum’s 2011 Exhibit and will display rare carousel animals from several nationally known private collections. Prized for their artistry and valued by aficionados, these carousel animals are rarely seen in public. “Wild!” is presented with support from The Frost-Parker Foundation, The Randolph J. and Estelle M. Dorn Foundation, The Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation, and museum members. This kicks off The Merry-Go-Round Museum’s 20th birthday celebration, with additional events planned throughout the year. Don’t miss any of the fun!
