We are a welcoming and affirming congregation. We celebrate our diversity in religious background, sexual orientation, race, age, gender and abilities.
A simple word that can make a huge difference. It can speak volumes if you have been unwelcome in a spiritual community. It can reveal the commitments and priorities of a community. It can be a promise that has both personal and political dimensions. Matthew says that Jesus saw the ultimate test of faithfulness as feeding, clothing, and welcoming the stranger (Matthew 25.31-40).
So welcome is a spiritual commitment we make about the way we live our lives in the world. And welcome is woven into the fabric of our life together at UBC. We welcome your presence, energy, passion, and gifts. We also welcome your pain, your questions, your struggles and your doubts. Welcome is more than a simple greeting for us. It is our call to ministry.
We hope you will join us for worship or the various gatherings and activities we share together. It's all about welcome. And you are!
