Urbane Cyclist specializes in the commuter bike. We carry all sorts of options for getting you from A to B seven days a week, 365 days a year. We also have all the gear you need to face any kind of weather.

You'll also find touring bikes, folding bikes, recumbents and cargo bikes in our selection. No high-end road bikes or mountain bikes here! Just practical, fun, reliable bikes for people who live on two wheels.

Our service shop is open during all store hours and we'll help you get your bike back on the road quickly and efficiently. We have a dedicated parts department where you can get technical advice and guidance when buying new parts for your bike.

We hope you'll find all our staff friendly and helpful. If you can't find something you're looking for, we are happy to help or order it in for you.

We offer a 10% discount on most parts and accessories to students, bike couriers, Toronto Cyclist Union members, Toronto Bicycle Network members and Autoshare members.

History

Established in 1997

Urbane Cyclist was founded as a workers co-op in 1997 and opened its doors April 1 of that year. We've grown a lot as a co-op and a store since then.

We now have nine members in the co-op and carry a full staff all year round. Our store has grown in size too, expanding to include a stocked parts inventory, large service area and a bike sales floor with a good selection of bikes in all types and sizes.

As a workers coop our values include community involvement, so you'll see a lot of our worker-owners (members) participating in community initiatives and events.

We've always valued top quality service and our mechanics are always working harder to bring you the best in town. We even have two full time mechanics on staff who have completed the Winterborne Bicycle Institute certification program and one who is certified through the Barnett Bicycle Institute.
