AIDS New Brunswick

AIDS New Brunswick

AIDS New Brunswick/SIDA Nouveau-Brunswick a community based non-profit organization. It was established in 1986 out of a concern for HIVAIDS-related issues and in recognition that New Brunswick is not immune to the effects of this virus.

Initially, AIDS New Brunswick/SIDA Nouveau-Brunswick Inc. was comprised solely of a volunteer Board of Directors who met to define goals and develop a strategy. In July of 1987 funding was received from the Federal Department of Health and Welfare. This allowed for the hiring of a staff person and the implementation of prevention, education, and support programs. The Provincial Department of Health and Community Services provided space that allowed for the establishment of an office.

AIDS New Brunswick / SIDA Nouveau-Brunswick (AIDS NB) is a provincial organization that aims to promote and support the health and well-being of persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), while helping to reduce the spread of HIV in New Brunswick through the provision of prevention, education and support initiatives.
