Devereux Therapeutic Foster Care of Massachusetts and Rhode Island are branch offices of the national Devereux Foundation, founded in 1912 by Helena T Devereux. We provide specialized, home based foster care to a diverse population of at-risk children, young adults and their families.We are committed to training all types of individuals and couples to provide intensive, treatment foster care. We emphasize a team approach. We provide 24 hour support, weekly home visits and monthly professional development.
We have four regional offices: Central Mass (Holden), Metro Boston (Woburn), Rhode Island (Warwick) and Western Mass (W. Springfield). We contract with the Dept of Children and Families (DCF) and the Rhode Island :Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). We also sub-contract for refugee placements.
There are currently 7,000 children in foster care in Massachusetts.The average age of our clients is 14 years old. We also provide services to teen moms.
Children stay in foster care until they have reached their treatment goals. Possible permanency plans may be: Reunification, Adoption, or Independent living.
