A Reconciling in Christ Congregation
The people who attend the worship services, volunteer for various church-related projects, and visit us on occasion come from a number of ethnic, cultural, economic-stationed backgrounds. Gay, straight, married with and without children, black, white, Asian and Pakistani call GLC home.
A common motto of our's, "We may be in Georgetown, but we aren't stuffy" is just words, but a way of life. Common worship attire is jeans, khakis, polos, and pullovers. A few of the men wear suits, but they are most likely to sit near someone wearing a sweat-shirt and chinos. A homeless man could in fact exchange the peace with a CIA retiree. In other words, all are welcome. We love the diversity.
Our pastor, Phillip Gaines, is an openly gay man. He has served our congregation for 11 years. He preaches the gospel. His only agenda is to spread the grace and love of Christ.
GLC offers two Sunday services for worship:
Children between the ages of 2-6 may attend Sunday education time between 9am-9:50. Children are welcome at both services. We encourage parents to bring their children to the services so they may participate as their ages will allow.
