James C. “Jes” Montgomery, MD is a Psychiatrist, certified in Addiction Medicine by ASAM and a Diplomate of the newly formed American Board of Addiction Medicine. A native of South Louisiana, he moved to the Dallas area in 1995 upon completing psychiatry residency at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. He received his certification in Addiction Medicine by the American Society on Addiction Medicine (ASAM) in 1987. As a psychiatrist, he is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been a Certified Group Psychotherapist.
He has presented and published in the areas of pharmacology in addictions, Boundaries and ethics, sexuality, sexual trauma and sexual addiction, sexuality and spirituality and LGBT/sexual minority issues. In addition, he contributed the Appendix, "A Psychiatrists Talks About Homosexuality" in Gay by God by Rev. Michael Piazza, a book about reconciling being Christian with being gay, as practiced at the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas, TX.
He is currently the Team Psychiatrist for the Gentle Path Program at Pine Grove Behavioral Health in Hattiesburg, MS, providing care for people of all orientations struggling with sexual compulsion, sexual addiction and out of control sexual behavior.
