Myles Downes, MFT

I provide a safe supportive space for you to experience healing and growth.  I work with individuals, couples and alternative relationship configurations, focusing on such concerns as anxiety, trauma, depression, self-esteem, self-compassion and a wide variety of other areas and concerns.

I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, working mindfully, experientially and somatically, and influenced perhaps most strongly by the Hakomi principles of mindfulness, non-violence, organicity, mind-body holism, and unity. In addition to the above areas of client concerns, I specialize in working with the following communities: same-sex (gay, bi or queer), transgender, polyamory, freak, kink, etc., although my actual practice is very diverse and I work with a broad spectrum of clients. I consider therapy to be a deeply resonant way to co-create new ways of being, and I approach therapy in general as more of an engaged collaborator than a distant expert, crafting an approach that puts the client at ease while still offering my various areas of expertise. I utilize complexity theories and an integrated, holism-oriented stance to incorporate mind, body and spiritual experiences in my work, something I believe accesses core material (and hence speeds up healing) more quickly than words alone.

I believe very strongly that what each of us really wants is to feel whole, alive and deeply fulfilled, and I always feel honored to be a part of assisting clients in achieving these goals for themselves.
