Our Mission
To serve the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning (GLBTQQ) youth, and their allies in Marion and Polk counties, since 1995.
Our Meetings
Rainbow Youth is open to all youth from 14-21. The 14-18 year old group meets on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The 18-21 year old group meets on Fridays from 6-8 p.m.
Our Open House
Ever wondered what 36 hands, a couple dozen King's Donuts, and access to Willamette University garden tools accomplish? Well, thanks to the volunteers from the Rainbow Youth Board and Take-a-Break Portland (an alternative Spring Break program comprised of Willamette and Tokyo International University students), our new location at 1380 Hines Street found out!
In between planting perennials and cataloging clothing, these newly acquainted groups realized how much both Rainbow Youth and the larger Salem community could benefit from an open house, showcasing the new space we're so happy to have. This open house was also a great chance for us to thank our benefactors for making this move a financial possibility.
Our open house was hosted in conjunction with Salem Spirit of Life Church in August 2010. This was an opportunity for our donors to see the results of their gifts; our neighbors to say "Hello," and "How can I help?"; and our youth to showcase a space they can finally call their own.
