Romantic, pet-friendly and family-friendly lodging for all families, groups, couples and friends. Located halfway between Manchester Vermont and Rutland Vermont in the sleepy village of Danby, the Silas Griffith Inn is the perfect place for a weekend getaway or longer!

Rebuilt in 1891 for Silas L. Griffith's second wife, this home has wonderful architectural features including a round pocket door, the original tin ceilings (made right here in Danby), hand-carved birds-eye panels, and original stained glass windows.  The property has walking paths, picnic areas, wildflower gardens and formal gardens, and a seasonal outdoor spa and in-ground pool. Danby also has 2 wonderful ranches for horseback riding, sleigh rides and wagon rides, several antique shops, a gemstone and art shop, and many turn of the 20th century or older houses and buildings.

We're close to skiing (Bromley, Okemo, Stratton, Pico and Killington), hiking (3.5 miles to the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail), shopping (The Manchester Designer Outlets are just 14 miles south), canoeing and kayaking, bicycling and much, much more.  Or just grab a book from our library and a blanket & pillows and relax under a tree listening to the birds and wildlife.

Since all of our meals are made-to-order, we can accommodate almost any dietary request. Just let us know if we need special ingredients, such as soy products or gluten and/or lactose free meals, when you make your reservation.
