Wild Root Journeys - Guided Kayaking Tours

Wild Root Journeys - Guided Kayaking Tours

Wild Root Journeys has been offering guided day and multi-day kayak trips for the LBGTQ2S community since opening in 2016. We fell in love with bringing the community together in an outdoor environment. The immediate sense of getting to be on holiday, in a safe place, and in stunning scenery is an absolute thrill to be a part of. We have certified guides through the Sea Kayak Guide Alliance of BC, with ongoing first aid and skills training to assure our clients experience a safe, responsible, and smooth journey. Our guides and facilitators are attuned to the interconnection of the natural world and humanity. We are motivated to give back through volunteering, and we strive to purchase our equipment and food locally, sustainability and ethically.

Super enjoyed this queer positive tip into nature. Great guides, food, and felt calm in the ocean with them even though I am a beginner paddler. Looking forward to more.

I go on a multi day kayak trip with Wild Root Journeys every Summer. It has become a kind of reset for me. A handful of days where I unplug, tune in, and enjoy both stretching myself and being taken care of in new natural environments.

The owner of Wild Root is a queer woman named Silke, and she has put so much care into every angle of her business and the journeys she organizes - she supports local as much as possible, and places great focus on quality and sustainability. Her kayaks and paddles are beautiful, the tents, therma rests, camp chairs etc. are such nice quality, and she just takes care of all these moving pieces with such grace (she’s been doing it a long time!).
I always experience both adventure and calm on Wild Root trips, and am so grateful to have the opportunity to paddle with likeminded folks every year. In community.

This pride 5 day kayak trip was everything I needed!! Queer friendly environment that was filled with good conversation and scenery. Our guide Silke was organized, respectful and informative about the Indigenous lands. Meals and gear were fantastic! I really feel as though my guides went out of their way to make sure every day was a full journey and not just getting from a to b.. highly recommend!!
