I am an estate planning and estate administration attorney with my own private firm in mid-town Manhattan, and I have devoted nearly 27 years exclusively to these practice areas. Prior to establishing my firm in 2002, I was a partner and counsel with leading New York City law firms where I also served as the editor of various trusts and estates publications.
Estate Planning includes more than the traditional area of Will drafting. There are many devices that can be explored for you to avoid, minimize, or defer estate tax. Estate tax aside, every person with assets of any amount or nature, and especially those with children, should have a Will in place in order to ensure that their assets pass in an appropriate manner and form to their intended beneficiaries. Furthermore, and critically, a Will allows you to designate persons whom you trust to administer your estate rather than have a court possibly appoint strangers. Other important documents I can prepare as part of the planning process include Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and Health Care Proxies.
