AdoptUSKids

We offer an array of services to both families and child welfare professionals. From tips and resources to an extensive database of children in U.S. foster care available for adoption and families who are home studied and approved to adopt them. We are a service of the U.S. Children’s Bureau and have been in operation since 2002.

If you’re a family interested in adopting or fostering, we’ll help you find out more about the process and connect you with an agency in your area.

Families licensed to adopt and foster can register for free on our website to:

• Search for and inquire about children in foster care waiting to be adopted.
• Create a family profile that caseworkers can use to match you with children who are available for adoption.
• Record notes and comments about children you’re interested in adopting.

If you’re an adoption or foster care agency, we can help you develop strategies for recruiting and retaining families and find matches for children on your caseloads.

Public and private agencies can register for free on our website to:

• Photolist children in foster care available for adoption.
• Search family profiles to find matches for children.
• Request home studies and information from families.

We also provide LGBT-specific resources for families and child welfare workers, including:

• Information and referral services for LGBT families interested in adopting from foster care.
• Materials and resources to support the efforts of States, Tribes, and Territories in recruiting and retaining LGBT foster and adoptive parents.
• Research on barriers and success factors in adoptions from foster care, including a special focus on the perspectives of lesbian and gay parents.
• Links to other LGBT-specific resources for prospective and current foster and adoptive families.
