The Alexander Hamilton Post 448 of The American Legion is the only American Legion Post who's membership is comprised mostly of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Veterans.
The mission of Post 448 is to conduct the programs of The American Legion while focusing on the GLBT Veteran and Service Communities of The United States, as well as active duty servicemembers.
Founded in 1985, by Dr. Paul Hardman, the Post quickly gained exposure for standing-up for GLBT Veterans and the GLBT Community against discrimination and hate of others.
The most notable contributions have been in the repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," policy of the Armed Forces of America. The fight continues to see the transition of all branches of the Armed Forces to equality for all, including benefits & survivor rights. We serve all veterans without reservation.
Post 448 meets every third Sunday at 501 Castro St, Second Floor, at 2:00PM. Drop-ins welcome.
