Welcome to the Candlebay Inn

We are a charming, dog-friendly bed and breakfast within walking distance of many outlet stores and restaurants located in the village of Freeport, Maine. At Candlebay Inn, we offer all of our guests a homelike experience with personalized attention and approachability. Wake up each morning and be greeted by a hearty and homemade breakfast to start your day.

Purchased in 2014, this inn represents a lifelong dream of mine. In my former life, I was responsible for running the operations of two very busy veterinary specialists’ offices, which is why it was so important to me to keep the inn pet friendly. We are one of just a few accommodations in the Freeport area to allow your family dog to stay with you.

Our staff is small, consisting of myself, my daughter, Stephanie Lay, and her partner, Van Mehanovic. Stephanie is a phenomenal pastry chef, sometimes whipping up some amazing confections for breakfast and throughout the day. Van has a culinary degree and is known for his delectable hash brown quiche.
