East County Shared Ministry is the ecumenical experiment of two Open and Affirming congregations: Community Presbyterian Church (CPC) of Pittsburg, CA & First Congregational Church (FCCA) of Antioch, CA. We have been sharing in Joint Services each Sunday in the Camp Stoneman Chapel while we are exploring merging our congregations to be able to do greater ministry in East Contra Costa County. We are progressive congregations in the Presbyterian and United Church of Christ traditions.
CPC – Pastor Will McGarvey
FCCA – Pastor Christy Parks-Ramage
Our Church Covenant
“Community Presbyterian Church and First Congregational Church agree to embark on a continued exploration of shared ministry that will enrich, enhance and strengthen their collective progressive ministry to our congregations, our community and the world at large. As two congregations sharing space, we hope to realize the incarnation of God’s love within our hearts and beyond the walls of our churches to bring new hope for all. Wherever there is loneliness, injustice or misunderstanding may we open our hearts and allow God’s healing love to flow through us into the world. We will strive to maintain the heritage and identity of our history while blending the brightest and best of both to God’s glory.”
