Oldeststone Farm

Oldeststone Farm

Oldeststone farm is a 274 year old forty six acre working farm. The house is in original condition and is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited house in the Shenandoah Valley. It was built when George Washington was two years old. The English style stone farmhouse was constructed by Quakers and the family I bought it from had owned it for one hundred years. It was in serious disrepair and will be "in progress " for some time. The farm is located close to historic Charles Town (its track and casinos), Sheppards Town, Harper's ferry, the Appalachian trail, caverns, battlefields and Potomac river tubing.

The house accommodates up to twenty two people comfortably and has five bedrooms with queen size beds and two bunk rooms with four and eight bunks. It is furnished in monochromatic Belgian linen with plush feather beds ( poly fiber available for those with allergies) and amazing country views. Internet is available (regrettably!!) but there is no WiFi. I feed the animals at six am and collect the eggs at four. Company is always welcome. A day of good old fashion farm work is good for the soul and any willing muscle is always appreciated.

I offer a rustic retreat that is comfortable, stylish and close to amazing destinations. The rooster crows early and there is no TV but the ten foot stone fire place and two and a half foot thick stone walls transport you to another time. It is cool in the summer, warm in the winter and when inside it is impossible not to ponder all the people that have passed through.

Breakfast is served after the animals have been fed around eight am but can be gladly changed with notice. A wake up call that you will never forget is available. Oldeststone farm offers a passage through history, beauty, hospitality, style and an all around farm experience that will stay with you forever.
