Our Family Coalitions advances equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) families with children through support, education and advocacy. We seek to create an inclusive and just world where all LGBTQ families with children have visibility and opportunities to thrive as valued participants in our schools, institutions, and communities.Our Family Coalition brings a unique and progressive voice of families to the LGBTQ movement. We cultivate community-based leadership among LGBTQ families and strong partnerships with our allies in California, to advance social justice and make our nation a more respectful and inclusive place for all.
Our Policy and Communications Program builds public education campaigns that advance equity for LGBTQ-headed families with children, builds parent capacity to create a vibrant media presence, and engages in statewide advocacy efforts. Our efforts have contributed to the implementation of the FAIR Education Act and the Modern Family Act.
Our Welcoming and Inclusive Schools Program works directly with school communities to introduce LGBTQ-inclusive curricula and positive climate/safe school practices in elementary schools. We have trained more than 2,000 educators, impacting tens of thousands of students in California.
Our Family Support Program works with LGBTQ parents/caregivers from family-building time through the schools years and beyond. We serve LGBTQ families and their children with over 150 workshops, support groups, and community-building events every year.
Our Family Coalition has grown to have approximately 750 member families of more than 3,000 people each year, including parents/caregivers, children, youth, prospective parents, educators, service providers and many others.
