Primary Care Practice on Seattle's First Hill, dedicated to the care of the LGBT community.

An Internal Medicine physician in private practice in Seattle since 1990, Dr. Shalit treats a large number of gay men, many of whom have HIV infection. His areas of expertise lie in HIV care and gay men's health care, to which he frequently lectures on both topics at the University of Washington and other venues.

Dr. Shalit received a Ph.D in Genetics in 1981 and his MD degree in 1985, both from the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington. His medical residency was completed at the University of Washington in 1990.

Some of Dr. Shalit's previous accomplishments include a volunteer position as the Medical Director of the Seattle Gay Clinic, an HIV/STD screening and treatment facility, and from 1990 to the year 2000, the Attending Physician at the Harborview Madison Clinic (HIV clinic), which is affiliated with University of Washington. His book Living Well: The Gay Men's Essential Health Guide, was published in 1998 (Alyson Publications).

Since 1995 he has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington and the Medical Director, HIV Program, Swedish Medical Center since 1996. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of HIV Medicine, American College of Physicians, Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, and Physicians for a National Health Plan.
