The Ecstatic Embrace is a therapeutic intervention based on the natural power of "meditative hugging", founded by Steve Maher in 2000. It is a 2 hour experience, 90 minutes of which is a continuous holding or hugging process. Steve's work was recently featured in RadarOnline.com as the cover story on January 21st, National Hug Day.

Steve brings compassion, care and intuitive wisdom to this process, which he discovered from a simple meditative vision. From the space of comfort and safety that the experience provides, individuals open themselves to a variety of experiences, usually characterized by an opening of the heart that feels deeply renewing and transformative.

Sustained hugging is known as a powerful agent for inducing the mood elevating chemicals of oxytocin and serotonin, as well as decreasing the levels of the stress based chemical, cortisol.

Steve's work is particularly useful for clients who are open to deep personal and interpersonal exploration, as well as those who are dealing with grief and loss.
