Catherine M. Ford, PhD, Psychologist

Catherine M. Ford, PhD, Psychologist

I specialize in the gay/lesbian/bisexual population & issues, and have openness to and some exposure to trans issues though that is not my specialty.  I have experience with a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, grief & loss, life transitions, self-esteem, relationships & sexuality, career & work.

I work with people ages 18 & up, individually and in couples & other relationships. I also provide supervision for psychologists.

My philosophy .... is to offer "respectful psychotherapy - the freedom to express and explore your self." Therapy is a very personal process, and it's important to build a trusting and supportive relationship from which to tackle your difficulties.

What approaches can you expect? We'll start by talking about what is bringing you in. Depending on your situation, we may talk through the meanings & feelings about what is going on, examine relationship patterns, focus on changing destructive thought patterns, or work together to develop active solutions.

How long will it take? This is something you and I would decide together. I offer both short-term services (1-8 sessions) to help people rapidly meet the challenges of their lives, and longer-term work for those who seek deeper exploration of their selves.
